QPR (Question Persuade Refer)

Many of us know CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) but not a lot of us know how to save a life through Suicide Prevention. What do you do when someone is exhibiting the signs of Suicide? What are the signs of Suicide? How do you talk someone into living after they have decided to die? Where do you take them? Who can help?

QPR walks you through how to identify when someone you love or a coworker is in danger of ending their life. Some signs are listed below:

  • Hopelessness
  • Giving way prized possessions (jewelry, cell phones, grades, promotions)
  • No longer finds joy in activities they like doing (hanging out with friends, sports, crafting)
  • Sudden irrational anger
  • Fascination with death or dying 
  • History of suicidal behavior (prior attempts)
  •  With drawing or isolating themselves
  • Stock piling piles or suddenly acquiring a firearms
